Harvest time in the Eden Valley my favourite time of year without a doubt π ππππΈThe trees have been heavy with fruit and that sweet, mellow scent that only comes at the tail end of summer is fading away to bring rain and cold (yeyyyy) We have around ten varieties of apples here on the farm, two pear trees and a few plums and greengages that have been here years and years. Each one ripens in its own time some sharp, some sweet, all with their own bit of character. The russets have faded away but the cooking apples and Blenheim orange are still going strong and holding onto the fruit. π today I picked the tail end of the Coxβs before the wind takes them.
Thereβs something lovely about seeing the colours change day by day, knowing all that nature has done its job. Nothing fancy, just good fruit grown slow and steady and a world away from the apples bought in a supermarket. I love them straight off the tree and always remember why this seasonβs worth the wait ππππππ§ #growyourown #gardener #harvest #smallholding #selfsufficiency #farmlife #farming #agriculture #farm #cowgirl #farmer
