Barley, Barley, Barley!!! Bonus Video | Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion

We are just finishing up our barley harvest, so I thought that I would share a couple of extra videos. Barley fields require a lot of extra care because barley ignites really easily. My dad had to pull his combine out of the field because he saw smoke. The views of our Montana fields are beautiful. You will get to see me drive the combine down the gravel road and miss the road signs. We have to cut the fields in sections so that if there is a fire we can get out safely and our combines don't catch fire. I hope you enjoy this bonus video.

My Story... Hello. My name is Kate Stephens and I am a 16-year-old 4th generation farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was 2 years old. Until recently the wheat we grow has been taller than me. My grandfather is 93 and he is the best mentor ever. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm and I decided that the amazing photos I take at harvest of our wheat and barley could make fabulous, exciting designs for fashion and accessories. That is how Kate's Ag – Farm to Fashion became a reality. I hope you love my handbag as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.
