With the forecast being a bright sunny day all day the aim was to get around 120 acres of maize in the ground - with 40 acres drilled in one block and 85 acres being worked down ready for the drill to move in to.
The whole team in the fleet of John Deeres and the JCB Fastrac and Loadall are spreading digestate fibre, cultivating it in, and then power harrowing the ground down to a seed bed. The three 8Rs on the heavy lifting backed up by the 250s and Fastrac.
The Horsch Maestro 12 TX maize drill then drills the seed.

However, a random thunderstorm with crazy rain and hailstones hits the area - completely ruining the ground works and drilling meaning it will all have to be re done.
The one saving grace being that somehow 2 miles away the 40 acres of maize drilled this morning didn’t get a drop!

The weather at the yard about 5 miles away was bright sunshine so on our return we headed out to start to pick up around 300 acres of grass silage for the AD plant.

I can safely say that this was the weirdest day since starting the channel!
