42. Ultra Processed Food, Feminism and Who Really Does the Cooking?

Put your thoughts into the mix

Are we really at risk of sending women back into the kitchen in the name of healthy eating?

That’s the argument behind a recent Telegraph opinion piece, which suggests that the backlash against ultra-processed foods risks overlooking the freedom that convenience food has given women.

We get stuck into whether the push to cook everything from scratch is realistic for modern families, and whether the responsibility for feeding everyone still falls disproportionately on women. Have we lost some basic cooking skills, or is it perfectly reasonable to use convenience foods when life is busy?

We also look at the benefits of home cooking, from knowing what goes into our food to saving money, and whether we’re perhaps coming at this from a position of privilege as farmers, with access to fresh produce, freezers and food on our doorstep.

Plus, we’re back with The Jury’s Out, where Charlotte reveals what she's completely over and we end up down a Big Brother rabbit hole!
